Türkiye's exports to its neighbours pass $18.2 billion
Türkiye exported about $18.23 billion to neighbouring countries in January–August 2026, up 2.6% on the same period last year. Iraq led at $5.76 billion despite a 10.5% fall, with Syria at $1.68 billion. The figures are from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM).
What it means for you
Iraq remains Türkiye's largest neighbouring market by a wide margin. Its lower volume this year may leave spare capacity at factories that depend on it — which strengthens a buyer's hand in negotiation.
