Milk in Türkiye: natural flavourings only, and a sugar cap
Türkiye's Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has amended the drinking-milk communiqué. Only natural flavourings are now allowed, added sugar is capped at 5% and total sugar at 9.5% by weight, and glucose and fructose syrups are banned. Fat categories are reduced to four, and the word "natural" is reserved for products with no additives. Companies have until 31 March 2027 to comply.
What it means for you
Turkish flavoured-milk recipes and labels will change over the coming months. If you import it, have the supplier confirm sugar content and flavouring type in writing — consecutive batches may differ during the transition.
